Michelle Obama's Spring Fever & Official Portrait

If there was ever any question that First Lady Michelle Obama is the most elegant First Lady to grace the White House since Jackie Kennedy - this week closed all discussion.  From magazine covers, to her offical White House portrait to her gorgeous dresses at official functions, the only word to describe FL Obama's look is stunning.

Walk in your grocery store and FL Obama is beaming at from the cover of Vogue and People magazines.  She coveys a wonderful air of grace and simple elegance.

The concert is online but you can jam with the President, who looked like he was going to bust a move any minute on an upcoming PBS broadcast.

 

 

And if all of this elegance was not more than one woman could pull off in a single week, the White House released the First Lady's Offical Portrait.  Although many thought the dress was perhaps by Oscar de la Renta, the NYT reported it is actually Michael Kors.

 

Now of course you know folks have to criticize, I could not believe the number of articles on the fact she is often bare armed.  Some really considered that inappropriate for the speech on Tuesday night.  If I was working out and could sport those arms, I would.  So I say "you go girl!"

I think what they really want to say but have not figured out how to actually say it is:  The First Lady is not suppose to be sexy!  I believe Mrs. Kennedy was elegant and graceful, but never really considered her to be sexy.  The cover photo of FL Obama on Vogue cannot be described any other way.

The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same

Although only 40 days into his first term, President Obama has accomplished an almost staggering amount of work already.  It is as if we are peeking behind the curtains watching what the POTUS actually does due to the fascination with all things Obama.  America remains highly engaged in the work of Washington in hopes of seeing a light at the end of the tunnel on this economic downturn.  Sometimes it feels like the light is another on-coming train.  High speed rail of course.

Yet, for as much as things change, they also seem to remain the same for those who find themselves stuck on stupid.  Exhibits A& B:  Rush and Tavis.

Now in all fairness I did not watch a single moment online or cable news.  Thanks to Twitter there was no need to torture myself.  Plenty of people were watching or attending the Conserative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, DC and Tavis Smiley's State of the Black Union (SOBU).

With session titles like: "Media in the Obama Era: Is Journalism Dead?", "Al Franken and ACORN: How Liberals are Destroying the American Election System", I figure I did not miss anything constructive.

Judging from the comments posted on Twitter today the same can be said about Tavis Smiley's   SOBU.  I have never watched the event in previous years and now did not seem like the time to break the trend.  The tweets I read reflected what some considered Smiley's efforts to take backhanded shots at the President, only to be shot down by his fellow panelists.  Sweet.  Also, when is Smiley going to recognize experts beyond Rev. Al Sharpton & Dr. Cornell West? 

I am fascinated by the cover of Smiley's new book, feature a composite image of President Obama, using smaller photos of average people I suppose.  Yet, the description provides no reference to the President.  Smiley could not find a way to a little less transparent about his effort to profit off the President's popularity? Also, considering the fact the theme of the SOBU was Accounability, I have to ask:  Was this a televised infomerical for his book?
